“Don't hate me 'cause I don't hate you”
—My Bloody Valentine, Xephyr Board
My Bloody Valentine (previously known as Pokemon DP and Black Hole Sun) is a now-retired user from the MarioWiki. He was once a Patroller (17 August, 2007 – 31 October, 2007) and a Sysop (31 October, 2007 – 20 June, 2008), however resigned on June 20, 2008, after an event on chat, later stating he "doesn't want to be a part of the corrupt system on the MarioWiki". This, as well as his considerably critical and straightforward personality, has led him to become disliked, but respected, by a number of users. His first username came from the fourth generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl; His second username came from the song of the same name by Seattle grunge group, Soundgarden. His current username comes from the shoegazing band of the same name, of whom he is a huge fan of.

History
Super Mario Wiki Period
My Bloody Valentine joined the Super Mario Wiki on May 24th, 2007 as 'Pokemon DP', to spruce up the Super Smash Bros. articles. He was mentored by Xzelion, who soon became his closest friend on the Wiki, alongside Uniju. He remained active for much of 2007, and was promoted to Patroller that same year by Porplemontage on August 17th. After a short stint of harsh sarcasm on MBV's part, he was eventually promoted to Sysop by Xzelion on October 31st.
In early 2008, MBV developed a 'virtual crush' of sorts on fellow user Purple Yoshi, which became the first open Wiki crush and led to several other confessions in the following months. His infatuation, however, eventually led to his demotion on the Wiki; On June 20th, 2008, during a normal conversation on chat between MBV, Paper Jorge, RAP and Purple Yoshi, MBV overreacted over Jorge and RAP's seemingly mocking comments towards his crush, and he kicked the two unjustly. This was noticed by Porplemontage, who proceeded to remove MBV's Operator powers - as well as Super-Yoshi's op powers for unknown reasons - and the two engaged in a long-winded argument over the justification of MBV's actions and the competence of Porple, ending with MBV resigining from his sysop position and retiring from the Wiki. He requested Coincollector be promoted in his place.
My Bloody Valentine went quiet for a while on chat, normally being away and only contactable in query; He, however, became active again and rekindled his good friendship with Uniju after spending the past year in a strange love-hate friendship. MBV was also one of the first members of The Xephyr Board when it was created in November of 2008, a forum that would eventually become one of MarioWiki's largest and most active extensions. On December 13, 2008, MBV announced his return to the MarioWiki, complete with a name change to Black Hole Sun; This return was very short-lived, however, as he later disappeared at the end of the year.
Xephyr Board Period
“Is there a "Fuck You" tag to go alongside the "Thank You" tag?”
—My Bloody Valentine, Xephyr Board
For two months, MBV was missing from all Wiki-related sites due to his disinterest in the state of the community of the Wiki. Sometime in March of 2009, however, MBV returned to the now-dead The Xephyr Board, noticeably more sarcastic, critical and depressed than ever; His return was a pivotal moment in Xephyr's rise to infamy. Uniju, Volke and Stooben Rooben all returned to the forum upon realizing his return, which was the first big step towards Xephyr Board's massive boom in activity and notoriety. MBV is an Assistant Administrator on Xephyr, is currently the most active member on the forum and the number one poster with over 20000 posts. On December 2nd, 2009, MBV requested a name change to his current username 'My Bloody Valentine' during one of his uncommon chatroom visits.
In fiction, MBV originally lived in Smash Bros. Kingdom, but has since put the island up for sale; he now resides in Xephyr City where he owns a small music diner with his brother.
Personality
My Bloody Valentine was initially very timid, showing concern for all his actions and always worrying about his performance on the Wiki, common traits for new users. He was rather polite and friendly during these days, but also very oblivious to most recent events. After becoming a Chatroom Operator, MBV became more serious to 'protect the Chatroom', something that made several users hate him. In this serious state, he commonly got into arguments and complained a lot, and also became obnoxiously sarcastic to other Users who made a mistake. This eventually got him in trouble with Son of Suns; As such, he made an attempt to improve his attitude.
A few months later, however, he began to cheer up, and became extremely random and humorous. While this made several users appreciate him more, it also led to hatred from the more serious Users, such as Alphaclaw11 and ChaosNinji. While normally happy and random, MBV occasionally got into serious arguments and flame wars, most notably with Uniju. He was also very protective over Purple Yoshi, which eventually led to his resignation as a Sysop on MarioWiki. After this event, he fell into a long stint of depression, which was not helped by personal problems in real life; This depressive and angry state got him on the bad side of many users until his retirement at the end of 2008.
While a tad rebellious, he has recently developed a much more optimistic and laid-back attitude. Nevertheless, he still retains a mild sarcastic wit and a straightforward attitude, but in a decidedly more light-hearted and comedic manner. He is also quite well-known for his idealist, individualist and non-conformist philosophies, of which he's been derogatorily labeled a 'hippie' for by Shyguy27 and ChaosNinji.
Religion
My Bloody Valentine had been raised a Christian his entire childhood, and had for a while had extremist faith in God. However, he began to question the existence of God as he entered preadolescence, but stuck to the faith from his "fear that he'd be killed in the end times". At 14, he began to break away from Christian traditions before completely breaking free from the faith by the time he was 15, soon growing to hate the teachings of Christianity. Over time, however, he mellowed out and now deeply appreciates the basic rational behind the faith, maintaining an open mind to the concept of God. He also believes that Jesus existed and that whether he was divine or not, he was inarguably a brilliant man with a great message.
In Wiki fiction, MBV is a Kaminaist, a fake Wiki religion acknowledging Kamina of Gurren Lagann, Phoenix Wright of Ace Attorney and Haruhi Suzumiya of Haruhi Suzumiya as divine beings, which intially began as a joke on The Xephyr Board and Uniju Wiki.
Music
Probably the most notable aspect of My Bloody Valentine's personality is his obsession with music, particularly classic rock and underground music. Originally starting out as a strong video game music fan, this eventually evolved into an obsession with mainstream music when he discovered "Weird Al" Yankovic. From this, he and Stooben grew a strong friendship, and Stooben became a musical mentor of sorts for MBV. Today, he is considered one of the best users to turn to with music questions[citation needed]. His favorite album is Loveless, by My Bloody Valentine, who are also his favourite band.
My Bloody Valentine's musical interests are very broad, spanning classic symphonies to hardcore punk; he believes the 1970s was the best decade of music and the 2000s was the worst decade. He is known for his strong hatred of pop music and whiny styles of music, particularly the brands being performed in recent years. MBV maintains a strong disgust for musicians who get into music solely for money and fame, believing this betrays the entire point of music as an art form.
Sprite/Comic Works
While initially viewed as one of the best spriters on the Wiki, My Bloody Valentine never considered himself a very good spriter, mostly just making recolors and backgrounds. His sprite background for My Bloody Valentine's Humble Abode of Music and Fighting (then known as Smash Bros. Kingdom) is considered one of the most impressive sprite works on the Wiki, and MBV is personally very proud of it. Port Harbour was another complimented background by him, although it was vastly improved by Uniju. He was originally a part of the New Wikisburg project alongside Uniju and Xzelion, being in charge of creating the port, but eventually backed out of the project.
My Bloody Valentine was quick to join in on the growing interest in action/adventure sprite comics started by Uniju's seminal comic The Lost Adventures. He created The Shadow Chronicles shortly after TLA's initial release, which was viewed by Uniju as a 'rip-off' of TLA. While MBV is now embarrased and ashamed of the comic - to the point where he removed all traces of it - It is to this day still considered one of the most important Wiki sprite comics. While TSC was still in production, MBV began production on a super-hero/drama series Master Wikians, based heavily on the super-hero drama series Heroes, which was extremely well-recieved and dubbed one of the greatest Wiki comics ever made. Like The Shadow Chronicles, MBV dislikes Master Wikians and has since cancelled the series, but views at as "more of a guilty pleasure" than a disgrace. He had also released a short-lived comedy sprite series titled VG Wiki while Master Wikians was still being made, based on the internet comic series VG Cats, a comic he now despises. Much to MBV's pleasure, the comic was lost with Scribblewiki's collapse, and he now considers the comic "easily one of the worst things [he] ever made".
He supposedly quit making sprite comics after that, while his idea More Scenes About Guitars and Robots was cancelled shortly after it was announced due to MBV's "inability to live up to FLCL's awesomeness". MBV recently assisted Stooben Rooben with several tilesets and background designs for his upcoming RPG Spirit Lies, designing the majority of the prologue for him, and later began work on his own RPG game Diabolus in Musica - a tribute to heavy metal music - before cancelling that as well. He recently announced a new comic series in collaboration with Walkazo called In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, based heavily on 1940s crime dramas and 1970s detective films.
Appearances
The Lost Adventures
My Bloody Valentine - still under the name 'Pokemon DP' - made a small cameo in The Lost Adventures (Issue 12). He had to quickly add something to the Mushroom Kingdom Article. Later on, he appeared on a beach somewhere in the MarioWiki, where he was attacked by Frijjle. However, MBV easily stopped Frijjle with his energy-based attacks, but was knocked out by Bekam. After the two left, a Spam-possessed Phoenix Rider proceeded to attack MBV, but stopped when the good Phoenix Rider took control for a short while. It appears MBV escaped the beach, and reached Uniju's Realm shortly after. There, he was trying to stop Guiliant from hanging up a poster filled with anime nonsense. However, a strange ripple in the area forced MBV to Sysop Tower, where he was attacked by fake Sysops. Luckily, he managed to defeat the fakers, and quickly left to find out what was happening. He managed to find his way to Wikisburg, where he was promoted to Sysop by Porplemontage, who had a letter from Xzelion telling him to do so. MBV stood still, staring in awe for over 5 minutes.
Wiki's End
Also still under the name 'Pokemon DP', My Bloody Valentine also appears in Chapter 3 of Wiki's End where he is in Knife's search party, along with WarioLoaf. The gang all traveled to the Smash Bros. Kingdom only to get surrounded by trolls. Peachycakes then commanded the trolls to kill the three. WarioLoaf and My Bloody Valentine fight the trolls while Knife becomes a coward and just watches. In a way, they all rescue Waluigi Freak 99 from the trolls, who somehow fell asleep. MBV and the others escape from the Smash Bros. Kingdom, but they all crash right in front of Troll Castle and get captured by Peachycakes and Dimenchio inside a white square. Later, Uniju and Toadbert101 get captured in that same square when Wayoshi is asked to become a troll. Peahcycakes tells Wayoshi that if he doesn't become a troll, Dimenchio will kill My Bloody Valentine, Knife, WarioLoaf, Waluigi Freak 99, Uniju and Toadbert. Wayoshi, who doesn't want to loose them, decides to become a troll.
Paper Jorge, RAP, Fg and Smiddle are all later locked up in the white box as well. Phoenix Rider later comes to try and rescue them but he remembers he has nothing that can destroy the white box. Luckily, MarioBros777 and Ice yoshi come in and Ice yoshi destroys the white box with a enormous explosion that makes everyone that was inside the box dizzy, including MBV. He is last seen lying on the ground, probably knocked out.
Friday Night Live
My Bloody Valentine - this time with his second username 'Black Hole Sun' - appears in the audience of Friday Night Live at the very last row in the panels. In Episode 3, he is a member of Thousand Fire and gets to fight off trolls and in it, he is confirmed to be Bean's boyfriend. Later, in Episode 4, he breaks up with Bean after he changes his name to Black Hole Sun and he resembles a zombie with blood (which turns out to be Smiddle's ketchup). In the next episode, he gets interviewed, but all he says is "It Sucks" which became a short-lived fad in the wiki. The real MBV was offended by this issue and told Jorge to not make fun of his depression, to which Jorge agreed to; However, MBV has since confessed he was going through a very bad time when he read that comic and that he overreacted.
Uniju Holiday Theater
While My Bloody Valentine had made a number of cameos throughout the series, he didn't get a significant role until the second Halloween special, in which Uniju visits his house to trick-or-treat. However, due to Smash Bros. Kingdom being in Australia, it's the day after Halloween there; Uniju asks for candy anyway, but MBV didn't buy any. Shyguy27 then appears, awaiting his cameo, and proceeds to vandalize MBV's house by painting "Streelight Manifesto Doesn't Suck" on it before leaving the kingdom with Uniju.
In the next comic, Magical Greenery Day Adventure!, Uniju attempts to escape the police by travelling to Smash Bros. Kingdom in the TARDIS. MBV initially thinks that the Doctor has come to take him along in his travels, and is disappointed to find it's really Uniju seeking shelter. He agrees to help him out on the grounds that Uniju is being held down by "THE MAN", but quickly throws him off the edge of the kingdom upon learning he still isn't listening to any rock music.
Spirit Lies
My Bloody Valentine is slated to appear in Stooben Rooben's RPG game Spirit Lies, offering advice for the player throughout the game. He carries around with him an electric guitar, and according to Stooben, he'll play certain songs for the main characters.
In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
My Bloody Valentine is set to appear in his own upcoming comic In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, appearing as the 'field agent' of Xzelion's private investigative department. In this canon, MBV is a male-to-female transsexual and is depicted as a human instead of a cyan Pikachu.

Relationships
Stooben Rooben
Stooben Rooben and My Bloody Valentine's friendship has its roots in some rather silly events; MBV noticed Stooben had stated he believed all sysops hated him, so he told Stoobs otherwise. As MBV's interest in rock music grew, he started to develop a proper friendship with Stooben, which evolved into the great duo they are now. The two can commonly be seen discussing music-related topics, ocassionally with Bloc Partier and Scarecrow von Steuben, and MBV considers Stooben to be something of a music mentor to him; On the flipside, MBV is a sort of Japanese music and anime mentor to Stooben. MBV has given Stooben the nickname 'Ruby' as a way to piss him off due to his dislike of the name, but as Stooben grew to appreciate the nickname, it's become the only way he addresses Stooben.
Walkazo
More behind-the-scenes than My Bloody Valentine's other friendships, MBV and Walkazo's first notable interaction was when they decided to collaborate on a fanfiction based on World War II, having been inspired by the map of the wiki world of the time. In the end, the story never got written, and it wasn't until a few months later, in mid-2008, that their true friendship began, after a discussion about religion, magic and science turned into a PM correspondence that hasn't actually died out yet. MBV is largely responsible for making Walkazo an anime fan like himself, and the two often discuss their otaku interests, music, and whatever random events are going down in their lives at the moment.
Purple Yoshi
Purple Yoshi was another of My Bloody Valentine's best friends, and was once MBV's blind virtual crush. MBV, being the shy newbie he was in his early days, began speaking with PY to "talk to someone from Australia". They became good friends out of this, and out of a final act of sheer stupidity, MBV claimed to have 'fallen in love' with PY, which, while not the very first infamous MarioWiki crush, was the first open one, which began the barrage of open virtual crushes that are continuing even today. Over time, however, he grew disinterested in PY and eventually lost all blind feelings he felt for her after he retired. When PY visited The Xephyr Board during its early days, MBV was incredibly hostile towards her due to his discomfort with their past situation; recently, however, he's patched things up and the two are on good terms.
Uniju
Uniju is My Bloody Valentine's idol and one of his best friends, despite their incredibly rocky friendship in the past. Joining around the same time on the MarioWiki, the two quickly became friends on chat, along with Xzelion. However, MBV's Christian extremism and arrogant nature and Uniju's refusal to be proven wrong stemmed countless arguments throughout 2007, with Xzelion normally being the mediator between the two. After Xze's retirement, however, the amount of MBV and Uniju's arguments escalated, which resulted in a bipolar love/hate relationship for the majority of the year. These arguments quieted down in 2008, however, when the two discovered a mutual interest in Japanese anime, with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni being the first of many anime MBV has watched by suggestion from Uni. While arguments and stints of mutual dislike still happened, they were normally very short-lived and not as intense and vicious as they were in 2007.
By the end of the year, MBV and Uniju had become best friends, with MBV defending Uniju from other users on many occasions. When MBV returned after his two month dissappearance, his respect for Uniju turned into near-worship and idolism, much to the dismay and annoyance of many other users. My Bloody Valentine has since popularized the Unijuist concept and successfully got Uniju unbanned on Userpedia after much debating with the Sysops. Despite this, MBV and Uni have conflicted many times over different taste in music and anime, and after Uniju's ban on The Xephyr Board, MBV stopped worshiping him, though the two continue to be friends.
Xzelion
Xzelion was My Bloody Valentine mentor on the Wiki and was once his best friend. Xze assisted MBV in his early days on the Wiki, and became a close friend of his alongside Uniju. Xze was commonly the level-headed mediator during MBV and Uniju's arguments, but his eventual disappearance led directly to the two's most vicious and infamous flame wars. When Xze began to become inactive, his friendship with MBV declined due to his terse and rude responses to MBV's comments, before he eventually left the Wiki. However, the two managed to patch their friendship up upon Xze's short return, and MBV still holds Xze in very high regard to this day.
Volke
Volke and My Bloody Valentine, as far as MBV can remember, met in chat one day but rarely spoke with each other; he believed that Volke was much younger than he actually was, though, due to his immaturity. They conversed more on Userpedia's forums, where they engaged in a flame war about music which immediately led to MBV's demotion on the forums; the two, however, settled the situation in a PM just before he was demoted. The two didn't talk again for several months until MBV returned to the Xephyr Board, and after much worthless PMing and pointless conversations, the two are now on extremely good terms. Volke is known for giving MBV several large loans of forum money on the forum, which has led MBV to jokingly call him 'money'.
